I love how the falling leaves make me feel like a child every year....dropping where they may, twirled by the wind...

Thank you for the email note/newsletter.

It's gorgeous here tonight after heavy rain and strong winds all day. Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and stars. We went for a walk, then Mark took out the telescope. Life can be good.

oh gosh, I remember jumping in piles of leaves...

Life CAN be good.

"SEASON" -- As I read this first word, my mind jumped to "seasoning": spicing things up or simply letting them age ("seasoned wood") or become experienced (a "seasoned sailor").... So naturally -- word-nut that I am -- I looked up the etymology of the word & found it comes (way back!) from a word meaning "to sow or plant." I like that -- each new season of the year as a time for planting something new, something that will grow in the current conditions. What seeds am I sowing in myself this autumn?

I have just been considering all the ways the word season has been used and I never noticed.

Love this post, and the video is lovely. It also led me to the wonderful Eva Cassidy singing 'Autumn Leaves', https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXBNlApwh0c which I'd never heard before, so thank you for that also!

Beautiful red tree.... I wish our trees would start turning color. Liked the falling fabric leaf concept on the video.

The japanese maple ooked so bad during the drought but some late rain and a longer season made for a stunning disply.

Thanks Jude .. I’ve been unable to settle to anything today but you always inspire me and I’m digging out my needle and thread ..

I like to take some time each day to free my mind...

I want to make that my own habit ..

My front garden (and the back soon will be) is covered in leaves and I think it is beautiful. Some from my garden, some from the neighbors...no one complains because everyone contributes. Once they end up in my garden, they stay there since everything is fenced. :) Always love layers of all kinds...

Big leaf year here, but no nuts...odd.

I love the smell...

Reading about Season…then layering…I think of how seasoning can layer in flavors when cooking..hmm..maybe too much Thanksgiving on my mind!

Jude Hill's avatar

I never thought about that , ha, I think that was a great association.
