Thank you SO much for the “private” update. It cheers me considerably!! I will be 82 in a few weeks, and really relate. I lasted with my first spouse through medical school, internship, residencies, Vietnam, helped set up private practice, had 2 FANtastic boys, then a daughter while teaching and running my fiber ranch all the time.
Then, when I hit 40 he had a hell of an explosive midlife crisis. I tolerated it for a bit, then split. Found a much superior dude, started a book store with a little inheritance from Dad, went back to university to enrich my teaching certificate, and taught, farmed, and tried to sell books until Amazon popped up. We’re happy but poor, baby is 50, boys are 50+, still keeping a few sheep and goats that the big cats have left us.
Many friends have died or moved, haven’t seen Laura MacNeil except for a quick signing at the library. But the moon is almost full, the temp has cooled to 71 (sorry!) now, and in a short bit I will have a glass of wine to get me through the news.
Thank you, thank you for being here now and then. I am watching you with great pleasure!!
love how u "always shovel this path first"... 'n the heartfelt response from the chickadee! the simplicity of your wreath encircling the patchwork hearts fills me with JOY!!! my man loves your posts too. if i forget to share the latest one, he'll ask, "what's new with jude?" xo
Our furry and feathered friends need us during this bitter cold. It warms my heart to see their little souls braving the cold for a few morsels to keep them going. be got heated baths and bowls to add a little comfort to their search. Access to water is soimportant this time of year! Jude- Would love to see a tree creation with hearts and birds flicking it. A grand ‘ol’ oak. ❤️
I love everything about this post, especially the bird-song from your shoulder percher, and I think hearts is a beautiful way to go through February...
My Dad thought I had my priorities mixed up when I told him I shoveled to the bird feeders first, and then part way to the wood shed before my knee said no more. I told him, no, I had plenty of wood, but the birds were low on food. My heart is really low today, so it will be good to have an infusion of beautiful hearts from you this month. Here's mine for the day, a wintry one 🩵
The photos are awesome! I love the wild birds talking to you! And what a treat to find old files - doesn't matter who backed them up. Can't wait to see more videos. Really beautiful photos...

Sweet birdie story
( I always feed the birds, just like us; they need all the help they can get)
I've been drawing hearts...and doing garden clean-up when it is warm enough in the afternoon...I still haven't pulled out any cloth and threads yet...
Maybe soon.
💜💕💜
Drawing is enough sometimes
A heart a day! On facebook…
Lots of pretty snow… but not so pretty when you’re the one shoveling! 😬
Take it easy Jude! ☕️🔥
💙🕊️

What happened to “the Man, who isn’t here anymore” and the lovely children? Personal, I know, but I have missed a lot! And where is your cabin?
The Man went back to Turkey. Long story. My son and his children live near by, I moved upstate, I have a cabin a short distance from the house.
My house is round,

I'll post pics of the cabin soon.

Snow mak3s for great lighting. And the sun is out!!!
I’m sorry, Jude - but you seem so detached from what’s happening and that’s your right - but I find it difficult to read your nature posts right now.
