Ceremony
because it is a beautiful day.
Years have passed, but I have not forgotten.
I counted 20, more than one pile. Unfinished large cloth. And some are in use but never actually considered done. Some are even in need of mending. Just going is a kind of mending I guess. I will revisit them one by one. Patch the holes created by absence. I have begun with the cloth I called Endless, and now Endless Wishing.
The Open Air Ritual goes way back.
A excerpt from my personal glossary, Spirit Cloth Language…
From November 7, 2006. when I wrote: I always place my cloths in natural settings from time to time to make sure they are in harmony with the seasons and the surroundings. This gives me a fresh perspective and time to think, and of course it gets me off my chair and out into the fresh air. So since my big cloths take generally 6 months to a year to complete I take them out to the woods or the sea every so often, and I shake them and hang them around and adjust my colors and stitches and shapes to reflect the time of their birthing. In this way the cloth's design comes to reflect the the time it took to make. The longer the project takes the more wise it becomes... and to me it is more of a gift. This is a personal method that keeps me from rushing and always thinking about finishing. It creates patience in my heart and allows me to let the project find its own end.
6 months to a year, what? , looks like my timing has changed. And no sea here. How life has a way of creating detours. Things have moved slowly since I came here, especially my own emotional recovery from upheaval and life changes. It’s a good sign, I think, that I have arrived back to where I was on my journey with larger work.
And the sorry excuse for a garden is expanding slowly. Inch by inch. All within reach of the front door. Including foraging. Just my speed at this point. Old hag that I am. A short but good walk to the farm next door to fill in the gaps.
Hoping to get the wood split this weekend. There are 5 big piles like this one.
And a clothesline strung up, very important for large cloth gazing.

Its awesome to see the pile of cloths and the one on the wood pile. I am excited to see them on the clothesline too. It does seem like you are entering a new phase, longer posts... it's good. Your garden is really nice, your foraging for plantains and dandelions is almost better. I love being an old hag. Ha!
